Listed: Feeling Trendy

Greetings!  First H Listed post and what better way to start off than by talking about Spring trends?  I’ll be honest and admit that educating myself on the “trends for the season” hasn’t always been on the top of my To Do list...but as I am starting to flutter my wings, my attention to fashion is maturing as well.  I attribute this fashion puberty to my current employer as I am in Public Relations for a luxury retail store but I am grateful for my new found appreciation for the Fashion Industry.  I recently was privileged enough to hear the UBER talented Ken Downing (THE Fashion Director at Neiman Marcus) talk about trends and this is when something clicked for me.

I’ve never heard someone speak about, depict, or describe clothes and their inspirations quite like Mr. Downing.  He used words so beautifully when he spoke about this seasons looks.  I felt like I was right alongside him at fashion week.  Gosh, I wish I could be.  Alright already... bring on the bacon.  To umbrella the things to shop for this season, channel Boho Chic and Garden Party Florals...hello 1976!  Several designers gathered inspiration from the classic YSL look books from the 70s so its no surprise that these are the top things to look our for this Spring:
  1. CORALS - all shades and all over!
  2. The wide leg pant - This includes jeans!  Don’t fret. Your skinny jeans are not to be shelved but explore the idea of sporting some wide leg jeans and feel good knowing that you’re uhhh.....trendy??
  3. White out - I LOVE that this is a trend as I feel most people can look amazing in all white.  I will never forget the scene from White Oleander were Michelle Pfeiffer is sporting an all white suit (the courthouse scene?).  I just remember thinking... wow... she killed it.  Nudes, tans, and other subtle color variations fall into this white out category so put some Pfeiffer in your week and sport this trend...(yes, NOW, no more waiting until a certain date...)
  4. The Flat Sandal - Yes.  Comfort is in!  A side note: Along with this Boho Chic comes the ever so whimsical long skirt.  This is the perfect opportunity to wear flat sandals.  AVOID heals with long skirts.  Gracias.
  5. Long Necklaces - Sweet.  Easy enough, right?
  6. Crossbody Bags - Even more convenient.  There are tons of amazing leather bags out right now with long straps.
Three cheers for the Fashion Industry and making this season one of the most comfortable!  So I don’t have to carry a purse or wear heels when I hit the town?  Groovy.
Much more to come on these trends as I have gathered images and such for your viewing.  Lets face it, pictures are better than words.
The weather today is gross in the Lone Star State.  Hope these trends help brighten your day!!
